Sea and Bead Cornwall makes beautiful & unique sea glass and hand stitched beaded jewellery, artwork, greeting cards and gifts.
All made by me, Ruby, in my home workshop in Cornwall, I've been making jewellery for over 20 years and started using sea glass in my work around 2014.
More recently I've started making unique artwork, greeting cards and gifts with my sea glass.
All beaded items used in my work have been hand stitched by me using tiny glass beads and a needle and thread.
I use beautiful sea glass that I've found on local beaches in Cornwall and occasionally sea glass from other areas in the UK that I've visited.
All the sea glass used in my work is authentic, I do not buy in sea glass, or use 'tumbled' fake sea glass - the best bit about using sea glass is hunting for it!
I'm out on the beach in all weathers - rain or shine - treasure hunting.
I love trying to find out the history of the sea glass, wondering what it used to be; some sea glass can be over 200 years old.
It takes many years for the salt water, waves and sand to smooth sharp edges, together they make tiny 'C' shapes in the glass & eventually creates a beautiful frosted finish.
Sea glass would have once been old drinks bottles, medicine bottles and jars, windows or ornaments that have found their way into the sea - usually dumped as rubbish, taken out by floods or from shipwrecks.
Sea glass comes in many colours, the most common being sea foams (light green/blue), greens, whites and brown/ambers; rarer colours are blues, reds, purples, yellows, pinks, oranges and blacks.
Sea pottery would have once been plates, cups, ornaments, tiles and pots.
No two pieces of sea glass or pottery are ever the same, you can guarantee a unique piece of jewellery, artwork, greeting card or gift every time.
